What is a pollinator pathway?
Pollinators are a crucial glue holding together everything from our human food system to the entire set of global ecosystems. Yet just since 1970, the United States has lost more than 60% of its insect population and 30% of its birds. To address this crisis, pollinator pathways are being created — pesticide-free corridors of public and private properties that provide native plant habitat and nutrition for bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects and wildlife.
Municipalities and property owners that create healthy yards and public spaces for pollinators, pets and people can all be part of this global movement that is rapidly gaining momentum.
join rye’s pollinator pathway!
Have you already taken the healthy yard pledge? Now take it a step further, when you add native pollinator plants to your garden.
By signing the Pollinator Pathway Pledge today, your property will be added to the digital Rye Pollinator Pathway map — and you will join a rapidly expanding network of properties in Rye and beyond that are establishing pollinator-friendly habitats and food sources for pollinating insects and birds.
If interested, you could even have your garden included in the annual Westchester Pollinator Garden Tour, held each year in June.
